Manchester Unlocked, this guy is a genuine craftsman, i was left with a none running vehicle by a so called expert who diagnosed faulty key, then said faulty battery and then blamed faulty starter, all these components had not failed. I then had to get my vehicle recovered home. I rang a few companies who didn't want to take it on after someone else had made a mess of it. I called Carl @ Mcr Unlocked and explained , he arranged to attend at my home, I recognised that this guy knew what he was doing within minutes, he set about finding out what the other guy had managed to corrupt and damage and disassembled, repaired and rebuilt everything until I finally had my car back up and running and able to lock securely. I cannot recommend Carl ( MANCHESTER UNLOCKED) Enough. This guy has the knowledge, the equipment and the skill and tenacity in heaps and his bill was less than his initial quote. Thanks again Carl. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Bernard Ryan, in Wigan.Posted on Google![]()

Great service, messaged on Sunday evening and Carl got back to me straight away, agreed a fob replacement the next morning. Carl arrived on time, was very polite and the cost was around a third of the dealer price and of course came to me. One key missing, one still available
This job brought me to Salford Quays for a 2020 Volkswagen ID.3. The customer had lost his second key, leaving him with just one working key for the car. Rather than leave it that way, he arranged a spare.
That was the right moment to deal with it. There was still a working key available, so this was a spare-key job rather than an all-keys-lost situation. I used original Volkswagen parts and completed the work in 40 minutes.
The customer had a coffee while I got on with the job. By the time the work was finished, he had a spare again without having to spend his day organising the car around it.
Avoiding an all-keys-lost problem on this ID.3
Losing one of two keys can feel like something to sort out later. The car still works, you can still get where you need to go, and the missing key may even turn up. The problem is that you are now relying entirely on the one that remains.
For this particular ID.3, losing all working keys would mean a dealer-supplied key was needed. That would be a much more expensive route than arranging a spare while a working key was still available. This is why I advised dealing with the missing second key before it became a bigger problem.
That advice relates to the car involved in this job. Replacement options need to be checked against the individual vehicle and key situation; the badge or model name alone is not enough to promise the same process for every Volkswagen.
If you have lost one of your keys, mention how many working keys remain when you enquire. It is one of the most useful details you can give me.
UWB and keyless entry on this car
This ID.3 had a keyless-entry setup using UWB technology. UWB stands for ultra-wideband; it is a technology used within the access system, rather than simply another term for keyless entry.
For the owner, the important part was getting a suitable spare for the car's existing setup. A key that looks similar is not enough information to establish compatibility. The vehicle details and the key system need to be considered together.
You do not need to know the technical name of your own key before contacting me. Send the registration and year, explain whether the car has keyless entry and tell me what working keys you have. I can then discuss the options for your vehicle.

Original Volkswagen parts for the spare key
I used original VW parts for this spare-key job. That is a specific detail of the work carried out on this customer's ID.3, rather than a claim about every key offered for every Volkswagen.
If original parts are important to you, mention that when asking for a quote. It helps make the conversation clear from the start, alongside the model, year and whether a working key is available.
There is no need to buy a key online before speaking to me. If you have already purchased one, share the details before arranging an appointment so suitability can be discussed. Similar-looking casings do not establish that two keys are interchangeable.
A 40-minute job in Salford Quays
The work on this ID.3 took 40 minutes, and the customer had a coffee while it was being completed. A spare key is useful in itself, but being able to fit the job around a short break made it easier to get sorted.
That was the time taken for this particular visit. It is not a fixed completion promise for every ID.3 or every Volkswagen key job. The car, the key situation and any existing faults all need to be understood when planning the work.
Manchester Unlocked is my mobile auto locksmith business. For an enquiry in Salford Quays, send the car's exact location and mention any parking barriers or access restrictions so we can discuss arrangements before a visit.
Keep the remaining key secure
Until you have a spare again, give the remaining key a consistent, secure place. If someone else uses the car, agree how the key will be handed over so you are not both assuming the other person has it.
Tell me where you think the missing key was lost and whether you have any concerns about someone finding it near the vehicle. If a key is suspected stolen, explain that when you contact me. It is better to discuss the actual circumstances than assume that making a spare answers every concern.
This article records the spare-key work completed on the Salford Quays car. It does not claim that the missing key was deleted from the system, since that is a separate detail to confirm for an individual job.
Need a spare VW ID.3 key in Salford?
Send the registration, year and location, together with how many working keys you still have. Let me know whether you need a spare, have lost every key or have a key that is damaged or no longer operating properly.
You can read more about my Volkswagen auto locksmith service and spare car keys. For this customer, arranging the spare while one key remained kept the job straightforward: original VW parts, 40 minutes of work, and time for a coffee.
If your second key has gone missing, you do not have to wait until the last one disappears to ask about your options.
VW ID.3 spare key FAQs
Can you make a spare key for a Volkswagen ID.3?
Contact me with the registration, year and number of working keys available so I can assess your vehicle. On this 2020 ID.3 job in Salford Quays, I supplied a spare using original VW parts.
How long did this ID.3 spare key take?
This job took 40 minutes, while the customer had a coffee. That is the time for this particular visit, rather than a guaranteed completion time for every vehicle.
Why replace a lost second key while I still have one?
You still have a working key available for a spare-key enquiry. For the ID.3 involved in this job, an all-keys-lost situation would require a dealer-supplied key and a much more expensive replacement route.
Were original Volkswagen parts used?
Yes. Original VW parts were used for the spare key on this 2020 Volkswagen ID.3. If you want original parts for your own vehicle, mention that when enquiring.
Does UWB mean keyless entry?
UWB stands for ultra-wideband. This car had a keyless-entry setup using UWB technology. The terms are not interchangeable, and the appropriate key needs to be checked for the specific vehicle.
Was the lost key deleted?
This job account confirms that a spare key was supplied. It does not confirm deletion of the lost key. If you are concerned about a missing key, explain the circumstances so any relevant additional work can be discussed.
Down to your last Volkswagen key?
Send the registration, year and location. Tell me whether a working key remains, and I can discuss the next step for your car.
