Manchester Unlocked, this guy is a genuine craftsman, i was left with a none running vehicle by a so called expert who diagnosed faulty key, then said faulty battery and then blamed faulty starter, all these components had not failed. I then had to get my vehicle recovered home. I rang a few companies who didn't want to take it on after someone else had made a mess of it. I called Carl @ Mcr Unlocked and explained , he arranged to attend at my home, I recognised that this guy knew what he was doing within minutes, he set about finding out what the other guy had managed to corrupt and damage and disassembled, repaired and rebuilt everything until I finally had my car back up and running and able to lock securely. I cannot recommend Carl ( MANCHESTER UNLOCKED) Enough. This guy has the knowledge, the equipment and the skill and tenacity in heaps and his bill was less than his initial quote. Thanks again Carl. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Bernard Ryan, in Wigan.Posted on Google![]()

Great service, messaged on Sunday evening and Carl got back to me straight away, agreed a fob replacement the next morning. Carl arrived on time, was very polite and the cost was around a third of the dealer price and of course came to me. I'd highly recommend.Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust. A 2018 Ford Edge with a key in poor condition
This job took Manchester Unlocked to the WN5 area of Wigan to help the owner of a 2018 Ford Edge. The old key was in bad condition, and we supplied a new key for the vehicle.
It was a different starting point from an all-keys-lost callout. The issue here was the state of the existing key, rather than a key that had disappeared. That is useful information to give a locksmith when enquiring: explain what you still have and what is wrong with it.
For this owner, the next step was a new key. The close-up from the visit shows the old key held together with tape—a clear picture of the condition it had reached.

Replacing a worn Ford Edge key
A car key gets handled throughout the day, carried in pockets and bags, and used in all sorts of weather. Its condition can become easy to overlook because you are used to seeing it every day.
If your key is looking worse for wear, it is worth discussing it before you are left trying to arrange help at an inconvenient time. Describe any damage and explain whether it still operates the car as expected. A photograph can help show the condition of the key, but we will also need the vehicle details.
On this Wigan visit, a new key was supplied for the 2018 Ford Edge. We have kept the account focused on that work without suggesting that every worn key needs the same solution.
A damaged key and a faulty ignition are different enquiries
Customers often describe the key they use to start the car as the ignition key. When you get in touch, tell us whether the problem is damage to that key, an issue operating the vehicle or something that seems to be happening at the ignition itself.
The distinction helps us understand what needs assessing. A key in poor physical condition does not, by itself, establish that the vehicle has an ignition fault. Likewise, a starting problem should not automatically be blamed on how the key looks.
Send the registration, year and a plain explanation of the symptoms. If the key still works, say so. If it has become intermittent, describe what happens. You do not need to diagnose the problem or choose a technical procedure before speaking to us.
What to tell us about your existing key
Let us know whether the key casing is damaged, the buttons are difficult to use or another part of the key has deteriorated. Only mention symptoms you have actually noticed; a description such as 'the casing is broken but the car still starts' is more useful than a guess about the electronics.
We can then discuss whether the enquiry is for replacement key work or an assessment of the existing key. The answer depends on the vehicle and the condition of the key, rather than its age alone.
If you have a second key, mention whether it works and have it available when arrangements are made. Keep the damaged key too, rather than discarding it before the job has been discussed.
Ford key replacement in Wigan
Manchester Unlocked provides a mobile auto locksmith service, and this Ford Edge job was carried out in WN5, Wigan. For your own enquiry, send the exact location rather than just the town or postcode area.
Tell us if the car is at home, at work or somewhere with restricted access. If another person will meet us, or the vehicle belongs to a business or leasing company, explain that before arranging a visit. We will discuss the identity and ownership or authorisation information needed for the job.
You can read more about our Ford auto locksmith service and replacement car keys, or call directly to explain the problem with your vehicle.
Do you have another key available?
When arranging a replacement, it is also a good time to think about how many usable keys you have. If the damaged one is the only key available, make that clear at the start of the conversation.
A spare gives you another option if your everyday key is lost or damaged. Store it separately so the two are not misplaced together. If you want an additional key, ask about the options for your own Ford rather than assuming another owner's key will be suitable.
Our spare key service explains the wider enquiry. For this 2018 Ford Edge, the work recorded here was supplying a new key after the old one had become badly worn.
Ford Edge replacement key FAQs
Can you supply a replacement key for a Ford Edge in Wigan?
Contact Manchester Unlocked with the registration, year and location to discuss your vehicle. On this job, we supplied a new key for a 2018 Ford Edge in the WN5 area of Wigan because the old key was in poor condition.
Do I need to wait until my key stops working?
No. You can enquire while you still have the old key. Explain its condition and whether it currently operates the vehicle. We can discuss the appropriate next step without you having to wait for it to become unusable.
Does a worn key mean the ignition needs repairing?
The condition of the key alone does not establish an ignition fault. Describe any starting or operating symptoms separately from physical damage. This blog records a new key being supplied, rather than an ignition repair.
What details should I send for a Ford Edge key quote?
Send the registration, year, vehicle location and a description of the problem. Mention whether the existing key works, whether you have another key and any known faults. A photograph can help show visible damage.
Can I send a photo of my damaged key?
Yes. You can send a photograph by WhatsApp to help explain its condition. Include the vehicle details and describe what the key does or does not do, since appearance alone does not explain every fault.
Is your Ford key looking worse for wear?
Send a photo, the registration and your location. Explain whether the key still works so we can discuss the right next step for your vehicle.
